Jill Siegelbaum

Jill Siegelbaum, a founding partner of Sligo Law Group, is a seasoned litigator with two decades of experience navigating the legal complexities of federal government operations, education law, and civil rights law. Prior to founding the firm, Jill spent twenty years as an attorney at the U.S. Department of Education, most recently as the Assistant General Counsel for the Division of Business and Administrative Law in the Office of General Counsel. In that capacity, Jill oversaw the division responsible for employment, contracts, appropriations, tort, intellectual property, and privacy law matters at the Department. She has decades of litigation experience representing the Department on complex and sensitive employment law matters before the Merit Systems Protection Board and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and extensive experience advising senior officials across multiple administrations on legal compliance and strategy in contracts, grants, personnel, and statutory and regulatory compliance. Jill served as the Department’s expert on the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), and is widely recognized for her expertise in employment law, FOIA litigation, and administrative law.
Earlier in her career, Jill worked as an attorney in the Department’s Office of Civil Rights, as a judicial clerk for the Senior Judges at the D.C. Court of Appeals, and as a litigation associate at Debevoise and Plimpton, LLP.
