About Sligo Law Group

Before founding Sligo Law Group, our attorneys spent decades in the Office of General Counsel in the U.S. Department of Education advising the Department across multiple administrations on the full range of federal education law matters. Our attorneys developed regulations and guidance, advised on programs affecting grantees nationwide, supported legislative drafting, delivered federal trainings, and represented the Department in litigation and administrative proceedings. Through that work, we developed a behind-the-scenes understanding of how federal education laws are designed, implemented, monitored, and enforced.

As a result, we bring our clients a level of experience that is difficult to replicate. We understand federal education programs from the inside: how they are designed, how agencies interpret and enforce requirements, and where the real compliance risks lie for the institutions and organizations we represent.

We provide practical legal counsel to nonprofits, colleges and universities, school districts, charter schools, state educational agencies, and other education-related organizations on grants compliance, civil rights enforcement, federal employment, FOIA, and administrative law. We also represent clients in federal and administrative proceedings and work quickly when clients cannot afford delay.
